On September 15, 2017, Jane E. Johnson had the honor of addressing the full Rhode Island Judiciary at the URI Bay Campus. Invited by Supreme Court Chief Justice Paul A. Suttell, Jane shared her experience as a sexual assault survivor.

Jane provided testimony to approximately 80 members of the RI Judiciary sharing her experience with the criminal justice system.  Jane's case traveled from the Superior Court to the Supreme Court.

Jane stressed the importance of advocating for and providing adequate support to victims within the criminal justice system. Jane experienced first hand the  many struggles most victims face through reporting their experiences of sexual assault and domestic violence. Jane stressed the importance of changing the criminal justice system, to make it more victim focused.

"80 judges in the smallest state, 90 minutes, in one room, that was a serious accomplishment. I've been in the field nearly 40 years, and I don't know anyone who did that." -Pete Loss, ACSW
